This Privacy Policy explains how AppsByB collects, uses and protects personal information across our websites and our Shopify apps. We have written it in plain language to be useful, not just legally complete.

For the purposes of GDPR, we are the data controller for personal information collected on our websites and as users of our products. When you use our Shopify apps to process data from your Shopify store, we act as a data processor on behalf of you, the merchant, who is the data controller for that store data.

What We Collect

We separate this into three categories based on how you interact with us.

When You Visit Our Marketing Websites

This includes appsbyb.com, storeimporter.com, simplecsv.com, support.appsbyb.com. We collect standard web analytics including IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring page and session duration. We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization enabled to understand how visitors use our sites.

If you submit a contact form or quote request, we collect the information you provide, typically name, email address, company details and your message.

When You Use Our Shopify Apps

When you install one of our apps on your Shopify store, we receive your store URL, store email and the data scopes you have authorized in Shopify. We process the store data covered by those scopes, such as products, customers or orders, only as needed to provide the app's functionality.

We retain working copies of migrated or backed-up data only as long as needed to complete the operation you requested. For migration apps, this means until the migration is complete and any reasonable follow-up period, typically up to 90 days. For backup apps, this means as long as your backups are stored, which is governed by the app's settings and your subscription.

When You Contact Us By Email Or Through Support

We collect your name, email address and the contents of your communication. We retain support history to help us provide better service.

Why We Collect It

We collect personal information for the following purposes:

  • To provide our apps and services that you have installed or requested
  • To respond to inquiries, support requests and quote requests
  • To improve our products by understanding how they are used
  • To send you transactional communications, such as account confirmations, billing receipts and important updates
  • To comply with legal obligations
  • To protect our services from fraud and abuse

We do not sell your personal information.

Legal Basis For Processing

Under GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases for processing personal data:

  • Performance of a contract when you have installed our apps or hired us for services
  • Legitimate interests for fraud prevention, service improvement and direct communications with existing customers
  • Consent for analytics and any optional cookies, where required by law
  • Legal obligation for invoicing, tax and any required record-keeping

Who We Share Data With

We use the following third-party services that may process personal information on our behalf:

  • Cloudflare, website hosting, content delivery, email delivery infrastructure and backup storage, Cloudflare R2
  • Shopify, for everything app-related, including authentication, app billing and store data exchange
  • Google Analytics, anonymized website analytics
  • Resend, outbound email delivery for transactional messages
  • Siteview, managed VPS hosting in the Netherlands for our application servers

We choose providers that offer GDPR-appropriate data protection terms. We do not share data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Where We Store Data

Our application servers are located in the Netherlands. Some of our service providers, such as Google, may process data in countries outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

How Long We Keep Data

  • Website analytics: retained for up to 14 months
  • Form submissions and support communications: retained for as long as needed to support our customer relationship, plus a reasonable archival period
  • Migration app data: automatically deleted within 7 days after the migration completes
  • Backup app data: backups are retained for 30 days by default. Customers may extend backup retention up to 365 days on request.
  • Billing records: retained as required by Polish tax law, currently 5 years

If you uninstall an app, we remove or anonymize associated data within 30 days, unless retention is required for legal or contractual reasons.

Your Rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you
  • The right to request corrections to inaccurate data
  • The right to request deletion of your data
  • The right to restrict or object to certain processing
  • The right to data portability
  • The right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Poland: Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, UODO, https://uodo.gov.pl

Our websites use a minimal set of cookies:

  • Essential cookies for site functionality, no consent required
  • Analytics cookies, Google Analytics, for understanding site usage, with IP anonymization enabled

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may break some site functionality.

Children

Our products are intended for business use and not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify users through our products or by email where appropriate.
