How to Share a Shopify Product Feed with Your Partners

You run a Shopify store, and other companies sell your products: retail partners, dropshipping partners, affiliate sites. They all ask the same question: “Can you send us your product data?”

You can answer with a file every week. Or you can answer with one link that is always up to date. This guide shows both ways, and why a product feed is the better one.

What is a product feed?

A product feed is a file with your product data: titles, descriptions, images, prices, and stock. Your partners load the feed into their own store or system, so their catalog always matches yours.

A feed is usually a CSV file (like a spreadsheet), an XML file, or a JSON file. Different partners ask for different formats, and most systems can read at least one of them.

The problem with manual exports

Shopify can export your products to a CSV file. That works fine — once. It stops working when you have to do it every week, for every partner:

• The file is old the moment you send it. Prices and stock change every day. A partner working from last week’s file can sell products you no longer have.
• It never ends. Every export is manual work. Every partner needs their own copy, often in their own format.
• Mistakes slip in. The wrong file, an old file, a missing column. Your partners build on data you cannot check.

The better way: one feed URL

Instead of sending files, you share a link. The link always returns your latest products, prices, and stock. Your partners load it into their system on a schedule — every hour or every day. Nobody sends emails, and nobody works with old data.

This is how suppliers, brands, and wholesalers keep many partners in sync without extra work.

How to create a product feed for your partners

Which fields belong in your feed?

It depends on what your partner needs. A good starting set:

• Title and description — so products show up correctly in the partner’s store.
• Images — partners almost always want your product photos.
• Price — and compare-at price, if you use it.
• Stock — the most important field for avoiding oversold orders.
• SKU and barcode — so both sides can match the same product.
• Vendor, tags, and product type — useful for organizing a larger catalog.

A simple tip: ask each partner what their system needs, and share only those fields. A smaller feed is easier to work with and loads faster.

How your partners use the feed

Is a feed link safe to share?

The feed URL contains a long secret token, so only people with the exact link can open it. And if you stop working with a partner, you can reset the feed URL in the app — the old link stops working right away.
